The red error message "SoundTap Recorder failed to initialize" is shown in the Status display

XP solution:

Ensure that you are able to install the SoundTap driver:

* Click Start, right click on My Computer, select Properties.
* Click the Hardware tab, then the Driver Signing button.
* Make sure the action is set to 'Warn - prompt me each time to choose an action'.
* Re-install SoundTap and click 'Continue Anyway' to the hardware installation warning.

Vista Solution:

* Re-install SoundTap .
* If the error message is still displayed do the following:
1. Restart the computer.
2. At the commencement of startup, repeatedly press the F8 key
3. Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"
4. Windows will now proceed to boot up.
5. Re-install SoundTap .

Note: as a Vista security measure, driver signature enforcement is enabled by default every time your computer starts.
