Option a) Setup
Setting up a multiple line analog system using an external USB device is easy. Just follow the instructions below, and, if in doubt, refer to the diagram above.

NOTE: This option is recommended for systems using two phone lines. If you would like to use more than two phone lines you may follow the Option a) diagram above and connect to an external USB device, however we highly recommend Option b) for systems with more than two phone lines.

  1. Using a telephone double adapter, split each phone line so that one line connects to a telephone and the other connects to a direct recording adapter.
  2. Using a 2 mono sockets to a stereo plug adaptor or Y cable (available at your electronics store), connect the two direct recording adapters into the sound card's stereo audio jack in the back of the computer. (The "audio jack" is the microphone (Mic) or Line In socket on the sound card. Some sound cards have both, in which case the Mic socket should be used. Otherwise the Line In should be used.)
  3. If you have more than two phone lines, after step 2, connect any remainding direct recording adapters into an external USB device. Connect the USB device to the computer.
  4. Download and install the VRS Recording System on your computer.
  5. You are ready to go!

Option b) Setup
Setting up a multiple line analog system using a multiple channel sound card is easy. Just follow the instructions below, and, if in doubt, refer to the diagram above.
  1. Firstly, ensure that a multiple channel sound card is installed on the computer.
  2. Using a telephone double adapter, split each phone line so that one line connects to a telephone and the other connects to a direct recording adapter.
  3. Connect all the direct recording adapters into the multiple channel sound card slot in the back of the computer.
  4. Download and install the VRS Recording System on your computer.
  5. You are ready to go!
